Nature deficit disorder refers to the phrase coined by Richard Louv in his 2005 book Last Child in the Woods that human beings, especially children, are spending less time outdoors resulting in a wide range of behavioural problems.

We have always maintained that snorkelling is a lot more than just pretty fish and cool critters. In general, most folks who come snorkelling with Tidal Tales all wax lyrical about the sense of calm, the escapism and what a relaxing experience snorkelling is ....with cool, colourful critters being a bonus. The time spent in nature is really important, especially for children. This great little video clip / spoof advert sums it up perfectly.

The benefits of snorkelling extend beyond just being in nature, you're actually submerged in nature, when you're underwater, you're literally part of nature. You're cut off from many distracting external stimuli, your breathing becomes slow and rhythmic .....it's a schedule four dose of Nature Rx. Do it. Beware, side effects may include confidence, authenticity, remembering you have a body, and being in a good mood for no apparent reason.
